Maternal, Child and Reproductive Health Initiative
In September 2019, we started a study on inequalities in women’s and girls’ health opportunities in Latin America and the Caribbean, similar to the one we previously performed for sub-Saharan Africa using the Human Opportunity Index methodology.
In November, we participated in the WHO technical meeting on anaemia to develop guidelines on the use and interpretation of haemoglobin concentrations for assessing anaemia status in individuals and populations. We also contributed to the new roadmap for maternal immunisation against respiratory syncytial virus, coordinated by PATH and the WHO.
The document will guide the worldwide introduction of the first maternal vaccine designed to protect babies against this respiratory virus.
